Fintech, financial technology, refers to new technology delivering financial services, including everything from payment apps to cryptocurrency. 

The four key areas within fintech are artificial intelligence, blockchain, the cloud, and big data. Those fintech companies focusing on the insurance industry are known as insurtech companies – a subdivision of insurance technology.
